Prestwich Heys upset West to move off bottom spot
Prestwich Heys hauled themselves out of the relegation zone in the North West Counties Premier League with a 2-1 away-win at promotion-chasing West Didsbury & Chorlton.
Ryan Hutchinson’s side left it late, but picked up another vital three points and three wins in their last four represents Heys’ best run of the season to date.
After a goalless first half, it was the hosts who broke the deadlock through Andy Briggs on 65 minutes – with the ex-Bury man netting his eighth for the club.

However, Heys weren’t for beating in this game and were level within ten minutes thanks to Max Bardsley-Rowe’s penalty – and James Badrock’s second in four matches won it with seven minutes remaining.
A first league defeat in six for West sees them remain in the top five, but looking over their shoulder at Padiham, who have the same number of points on the board having played three games less.
Last-gasp Bury see off Ravens
At the other end of the table, Bury extended their lead to four points with a late winner as they overcame FC Isle of Man 3-2 at Gigg Lane.
2,699 saw the red-hot DJ Pedro win it once again for The Shakers – this time his goal came deep into added time when the game looked to be heading to a 2-2 draw.
Sean Doyle had opened the scoring for the visitors after just nine minutes – but the sides went in level thanks to Aaron Chalmers’ equaliser just before the break.
Rustam Stepans put Dave McNabb’s side ahead for the first time on 73 minutes, but Doyle replied once more and looked to have secured a point with his 13th of the campaign.
Pedro’s late winner – four minutes into added time – means Bury will remain top of the league into next week regardless of what happens in this weekend’s fixtures.
Villagers thump Barlick on road
Charnock Richard bounced back from a big defeat at the weekend and brushed aside Barnoldswick Town, running out 4-0 winners.
Will Riding got the ball rolling with his 20th minute effort, but the Chorley side really stepped it up after the break with three further goals. Kuda Chingwaro scored just after the restart, quickly followed by Luke Power, and Nathan Nickeas wrapped it up with goal 27 of the season.
Charnock return to the top ten, while 16th-placed Barlick now have little to play for in truth for the remainder of the season.
Squires Gate end losing run
The final midweek games sees us come full circle on where we started as Squires Gate drop to the foot of the table after a 2-2 draw with AFC Liverpool.
Despite breaking their 14-game losing streak, the Blackpool side are now bottom following three points for Prestwich Heys.

Dean Ing opened the scoring for the hosts five minutes in, but the visitors turned the game around with a goal in each half from Adam Moorcroft and Caleb Jones.
Scott Harries scored his third in four matches to level the game shortly before Nathan Giblin’s red card left AFC to play the last quarter hour with a man less.
Ing was denied his second of the evening in the closing stages by the offside flag, and with it a much-needed three points. Mid-table AFC are on a poor run of one win in six.
Two games were postponed across the midweek fixtures:
- Lower Breck vs South Liverpool (Floodlight issues)
- Longridge Town vs Stockport Town (Waterlogged pitch)
