Kendal Town on the board with away draw

Kendal Town came from behind three times to take their first point of the season in a 3-3 draw at Newcastle Blue Star, in the Northern League Division One.

Konner Lamb had put the home side after 28 minutes, but The Mintcakes were level just before the break thanks to DJ Taylor.

The second half started with a bang, with three further goals on the board before the hour mark – Euan Potts for the home side on 52 minutes, with Blue Star pegged back by Bailey Kenny three minutes later.

Potts’ second of the evening put Newcastle 3-2 up, but Kendal sub Jamie Looker wasn’t going to be denied, and his long range, dipping effort snatched a point for his side with ten minutes left to play.

A 3-3 draw sees both sides on the board after defeat on the opening day, with 335 in attendance treated to a incident packed match.

Home hammering for Penrith

It was a night to forget for Penrith, who were thrashed 5-0 by early pacesetters Blyth Town.

Relegated Blyth have quickly found their feet, and have scored a remarkable 11 goals in their two games to date. A second defeat for Penrith leaves manager Jim Nichols looking for improvements ahead of Saturday’s game with Crook Town.
