Ashton United see off Hallam
Ashton United set up an FA Cup second qualifying round tie with National League North side Scarborough Athletic after beating Hallam 2-0.
Steve Cunningham’s side successfully navigated the first round replay thanks to goals bookending the 90 minutes – Jamie Sharman’s own goal on six minutes and Jason Gilchrist’s effort six minutes from time.
The Robins will now host the higher-ranked Scarborough and will be hoping for a repeat of their last meeting in the competition – a 2-0 away win in the 2020-21 season’s first qualifying round.

Late win for Nantwich Town
Nantwich Town are through after super-sub Byron Moore netted two late goals in a 2-0 win over NPL West rivals Avro.
After Moore’s namesake Harrison scored The Dabbers’ quickest ever goal in the competition in the first game – after just 8.8 seconds – this game was the exact opposite with no goals until the 89th minute.
Moore – on as a sub on 78 minutes – netted a quickfire brace either side of the 90 minute mark to set up a home tie with another familiar opponent in Trafford.
Bootle hit four on way through
Bootle are also through after a decisive second half performance in a 4-2 win over Silsden on Tuesday night.
Alan Morgan’s side scored three of their four goals after the break, with the sides going in level at 1-1. Joe Woolley’s opener on 23 minutes was pegged back by the visiting Jake Cassidy on the verge of half time.
Michael Simpson quickly put Bootle back ahead, and Bootle found themselves 3-1 up within ten minutes of the restart with Woolley’s second of the night. Dior Angus sealed it in the closing stages, with Kayle Price netting a second for Silsden in added time.

Bootle now play Step 2 Darlington after making it to the second qualifying round for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Witton Albion avoid upset
Witton Albion got the job done at the second time of asking after beating Shildon 3-0 in their own back yard.
Goals from Tom Hoyle, Adam Bott and James Lawrie allowed Albion to progress against the Step 5 side after a 3-3 draw in the first game.
Ben Harrison’s side will now return to the North East in the next round to play NPL Premier side Morpeth Town.

Tigers progress at Cables’ expense
Hyde United set up a home tie against Whitby Town after beating another divisisonal rival, Prescot Cables, 1-0 in their midweek replay.
Jack Redshaw’s goal on the hour was the difference maker between the two sides.
The Tigers have now made at least the second qualifying round in five of the last six seasons, while Prescot bow out at the first qualifying round for the second successive year.

FA Cup second qualifying round dates and prize money
FA Cup second qualifying round games will take place on the weekend of September 13th. Replays will be needed if games are level after 90 minutes.
Winners in these games will collect £2,250 in prize money while losing clubs will receive £750 for making it this far.
