Chester maintain promotion push

Chester moved up to third place in the National League North with a 2-0 home win over Alfreton Town at the Deva Stadium – with Calum McIntyre’s side extending their unbeaten run to six matches and counting.

The Seals left it late to wrap up the three points, with the game still goalless at the 70 minute mark – though Harrison Burke made sure it wouldn’t stay like that with his third goals in as many games to break the deadlock.

Tom Peers confirmed a third win on the bounce for his side on 81 minutes, and Chester are just three points off league leaders Kidderminster Harriers at this stage.

Chorley and Scunthorpe can’t be separated

Chorley shared the spoils with Scunthorpe United in a 2-2 draw at Victory Park, with the visitors twice pegging back Andy Preece’s side.

Mike Calveley’s fifth of the season opened the scoring for the hosts after five minutes, and The Magpies looked to be heading into the break with the lead – until Callum Roberts’ added time equaliser.

Jack Sampson would once again put the hosts ahead shortly after the restart, but Danny Whitehall’s converted header would prove decisive as his goal would be the final one of the game.

It’s a season of stalemate between these two sides, with both games ending in score draws – with the reverse fixture ending 1-1 back in August. Seventh place Chorley are unbeaten in three matches.

Southport draw…again

Draw specialists of recent times Southport missed the chance to bag all three points – despite scoring the first goal in a 1-1 game at Hereford.

Danny Lloyd put Jim Bentley’s side ahead with 20 minutes left on the clock, but the lead lasted barely four minutes before Yusifu Ceesay levelled the game for the hosts.

The Sandgrounders have now drawn four of their last six matches, but only have one victory on the board in the last ten. Lloyd moves into double figures in the league this year.

Walker steps up for Radcliffe

Radcliffe picked up a point in a 1-1 draw with fellow bottom four side Needham Market.

Tom Walker’s equaliser ensured his side took home a share of the spoils after Luke Ingram put the home side in front early in the second half.

A seventh draw of the campaign leaves Boro two points and one place shy of safety – albeit with three games in hand on crisis club Farsley Celtic, who sit directly above the drop zone.

Nash and Bucks beaten

It was a bad day for Curzon Ashton, whose 1-0 loss to promotion rivals Brackley Town sees them slip to sixth place in an incredibly tight top six.

Matt Lowe’s goal just after the hour moves the Cambridgeshire side a point and two places above Craig Mahon’s men in blue. It is worth mentioning however that The Nash have up to three games in hand on some of the other contenders.

Three defeats in four mark Curzon’s worst run of form in a successful season to date.

Buxton fell to back-to-back defeats after a 3-1 home loss to mid-table Peterborough Sports. Tom Elliott scored The Bucks’ goal – equalising the game after Dan Jarvis had opened the scoring.

Two goals late in the second half from Bayley McCann and Max Booth won it for the visitors.

Warrington’s losing streak continues

Warrington Town‘s poor form continued with a fourth straight defeat as The Yellows lost 2-0 at Kidderminster. Goals from Reiss McNally and Maz Khouyar put pay to the visitors, who are now only two points above the drop zone.

Matty McDonald’s late red card for two bookings in as many minutes left Warrington with little to remember from this match.

After a brief respite with a win over Warrington last time out, it’s back down to earth with a bump for relegation-threatened Marine, who lost 3-1 at high-flying King’s Lynn Town.

Joe Mattock took the goal for the Crosby side, who remain third from bottom.
