Bury back on top as Rammy stumble
The back-and-forth action at the top of the North West Counties Premier League continues as Bury regain top spot with a 2-1 away win at Stockport Town.
This win combined with Ramsbottom United being held to a 2-2 draw by Longridge Town sees the Shakers back on top of the table by a point with the same number of games played.
Bury had it won in the first half – with that man DJ Pedro again taking the spotlight with two goals in the opening 25 minutes – the first from the penalty spot. He’s scored 20 goals since November – and all five goals in their last two matches.

Jack Atkinson’s late consolation wasn’t enough for Stockport to avoid falling to consecutive defeats for the first time since November.
Ridge peg back Rams
It was a game of two halves at Ramsbottom, who must have thought another win was on the way when they were 2-0 up before the first half had reached the midway point. Harvey Whyte and Tom Hoyle’s early goals gave them a half-time lead to defend.
Longridge had other ideas however and Jordan Dainty quickly pulled one back for the visitors, before Jack Anderton drew his side level in the final quarter hour. The Lancashire side have proved somewhat of a thorn in Ramsbottom’s side this season, having also won the reverse fixture in August.
Epic comeback for West Didsbury & Chorlton
West Didsbury & Chorlton are back in the top five after winning a seven-goal thriller 4-3 over Colne at the Step Places Stadium.
A shock result looked well on the cards at the visitors raced into a 3-0 lead within the first 25 minutes – with goals from Jude Entwistle, Matthew Argent-Barnes and Jack Holt making a mockery of their league position.
Here's Jimmy Moore's incredible winning goal from today's thrilling 4-3 comeback win over Colne.

However, West fought back after the break – scoring four times in little over half an hour to take all three points. Andy Briggs started the comeback, and a brace from Victor Abadaki – goals 20 and 21 of the season – looked to have bagged a point for his side.
Jimmy Moore was having none of that – and his rocket (see video above) in added time made sure his side returned to the playoff positions. It’s a hard result for Colne, who remain third bottom but with games in hand on teams around them.
Breck back on track
Lower Breck bounced back from defeat last time out to resume their promotion push while beating midtable Abbey Hey 3-1 on the road.
The game was level at the hour mark after Tom Mitchell’s early goal for the visitors was cancelled out by Joel Ankers’ tenth of the season, but Elliot Hughes put Breck ahead before Lewis Buckley sealed it with his 12th to date.
Breck hold a crucial game in hand on both of the top two and are waiting to pounce on any slip ups. Back-to-back losses for Abbey Hey leave the Gorton side in 15th place.
Barlick back to winning ways
Ryan Moore’s hat-trick was the key for Barnoldswick Town‘s first win in eight attempts as his side overcame troubled Squires Gate 4-1.
Moore opened the scoring just two minutes in, and a quick brace was on the board in the first quarter hour. Oliver Roberts’ penalty trebled the lead, but Jack Page gave the Blackpool outfit a glimmer of hope with his goal five minutes before the break.
Barlick had the game wrapped up on 73 minutes as Moore bagged his hat-trick, almost doubling his season’s tally in one match – he’s now up to seven as his side return to winning ways. 15 defeats in a row make grim reading for Luke Evans’ team.
Stripes pick up first win of 2025
FC St Helens ended a run of four straight defeats with a bang, beating Charnock Richard 4-1 in front of 324 at Windleshaw Sports.
Two Liams gave their side a two-goal advantage early on – with Houghton and Cuthbert on target in the opening 35 minutes. Nathan Nickeas brought Charnock back into it shortly after, but Tom McNamara restored his side’s lead before the break.
Houghton added his second after the break, with Nickeas sent off in the closing stages for a second booking. Both sides remain outside bets for a playoff spot in a congested upper midfield.

North West Counties Premier Division results
Cheadle Town were too good for Litherland REMYCA and ran out 3-0 winners on their travels. An own goal set the ball rolling before further goals from Sam Unwin and Kaleb Parkinson sealed an eighth away win of the season for Jake Davies’ side.
AFC Liverpool closed in on the top ten with a 2-0 home win over Pilkington with a goal in each half from Liam Paton and Adam Moorcroft. A first win of 2025 also seals the league double over Pilks.

Glossop North End came from behind to see off bottom side Prestwich Heys in a 2-1 victory. Max Bardsley-Rowe put the visitors ahead on 12 minutes, but the game was decided before half time as Keaton Mulvey and Lee Rick turned the game around in The Hillmen’s favour.
Finally, Chadderton ended Padiham‘s impressive winning streak thanks to Bradley Ditch’s equaliser 15 minutes from time. Josh Briggs had put Padiham ahead early doors with his 19th of the season. His side remain unbeaten since October.
