Squires Gate see off Barlick

Squires Gate returned to winning ways in the North West Counties Premier Division with a 2-1 home win over Barnoldswick Town.

Luke Evans’ Squires Gate side picked up a sixth win of the campaign with goals from James Boyd (4) and Jack Scott (66). Gareth Hill had pulled Barlick level just after the half hour, but it’s a first loss in three for the visitors.

Victory here leaves Squires Gate as the big winners in the bottom half of the table following the midweek round of fixtures as the only side below 12th to pick up three points. Squires Gate are now 13 points clear of the bottom two.

Next up for Squires Gate is a trip to Cheadle Town while Barlick are on the road at Prestwich Heys this Saturday.

Depleted Charnock Richard pick up 3 points

Charnock Richard picked up a 4-2 win at Abbey Hey – despite both Louis Holt and goalkeeper Ryan Hamer being sent off in the second half.

Kuda Chingwaro and Holt were on the scoresheet before the half hour for the visitors, but Moses Yoak pulled one back for the Manchester side shortly after the restart.

Holt was then sent off, but within a minute Nathan Nickeas had re-established the two goal cushion with his tenth of the season. Joel Ankers again reduced the deficit for Abbey Hey but Chingwaro’s second of the night completed the scoring.

Hamer was dismissed in added time, but this result leapfrogs Ryan Donnellan’s men above their hosts into the top half.

Stockport Town on the up

Stockport Town made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 victory over South Liverpool on Monday night – but had to come from behind after Conor Ready’s 12th minute opener.

Kylan Depeiaza equalized for The Lions on 20 minutes, and Dan McLaughlin’s penalty shortly after decided it as Paul Turnbull’s men moved on to the 30 point mark.

South Liverpool’s chances of an equaliser diminished in added time, with Dominic Cain sent to the sin bin and Ready red-carded for a second booking, as the visitors ended the game with nine men.

Storks deliver home win

It was a similar story for Padiham, who were behind at the break to Lower Breck but bounced back to pick up a 2-1 home win.

Tom Croughan opened the scoring for Breck with his fifth of the season, but Jack Price swung the game in The Storks’ favour with a second half brace.

Padiham are now unbeaten in three, and despite only picking up one win in their last five, Lower Breck are in third place.

Points go Irlam’s way

Jack Mitchell’s solitary goal was enough for Irlam to beat FC St Helens, with the winners here pulling level with The Stripes on both points and goal difference.

St Helens are on their longest run without a win since joining the Premier Division – four matches. Irlam meanwhile have won three league games on the bounce.

West deny Heys first win under new boss

Ryan Hutchinson’s new-look Prestwich Heys got their first point on the board in a 2-2 draw with West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Max Bardsley-Rowe – one of a number of new signings making their debut – made an immediate impact with two second half goals that put his side in the driving seat by 62 minutes – including one from the penalty spot.

However, Connor Hughes was on hand to rescue a point for West with his own brace – netting on 66 and 83 minutes before a third goal for the visitors was chalked off for a foul on the ‘keeper.

In the aftermath, Jimmy Moore’s protestations earned him a second booking, but Hughes’ fourth goal in two matches would prove to be the decisive effort as the points were shared.
