Burscough turn it around to win again

Burscough are the only team in the North West Counties Premier Division that have played both matches and won them after their 5-2 success at FC St Helens.

Phil Stafford’s side racked up five second half goals to take the away win, with St Helens going 2-0 up either side of the break through Joel Connolly (38) and Tom McNamara (46).

Quickfire goals from Will Dunne (47) and Callum Laird (48) levelled the game. The men in green were ahead by the hour mark, with Andrew Starkey on target before Jack Hinnigan (74) and Caleb Jones (76) added gloss to the victory.

Chadderton hit Abbey for six

Chadderton emphatically picked up their first win of the campaign with three goals in each half while beating Abbey Hey 6-2 at Andrew Street.

An impressive long range effort from Joe Richards (7) gave an early signal how the night would go, with Matty Barlow weighing in with two before the break. Connor High, Edson Cata and substitute Dan McLaughlin all weighed in with a goal apiece in the second half.

Adekunle Badmus briefly levelled the match at 1-0, and would also take his side’s second but to little avail.

Rams win Greater Manchester battle

Ramsbottom United picked up their first win with a 3-0 home win over relegated Trafford.

Rob Henry’s side had it won in the first half hour – with an own goal opening the scores (13), before Gareth Hill netted his second in as many games (16) and Jack Sowerby finished the scoring by the 22nd minute.

Trafford had won their opener 3-0 at the weekend, but that goal difference was wiped out here. The Rams overtake them in the table and remain unbeaten.

Strong result for Euxton Villa

Joel Darley’s brace ensured Euxton Villa took their first win, a 3-0 home victory over AFC Liverpool.

Zach Abbott (16) had already opened the scoring for the home side, before Darley converted a penalty on the half hour. He added the third ten minutes into the second half.

It’s a first victory for Villa over AFC in the Premier Division; Matt Atherton’s side lost by an aggregate 5-0 last season in their debut Step 5 campaign.

Atherton LR bounce back

Atherton LR were 3-1 winners at Irlam thanks to two goals in a critical four minute spell in the second half.

Tom Romano’s early goal (8) had given the visitors the lead, but Jack Mitchell levelled for the Silver Street side, and his second goal in as many games sent the sides in level at the break.

Romano re-established his side’s lead on 66 minutes, and Cal Hunter made sure the three points came home with Dave Jones and co shortly afterwards.

Charnock take away win

Charnock Richard were 2-0 winners at Litherland REMYCA on Wednesday night.

After both clubs picked up a point on the opening day, it was Charnock who remained unbeaten thanks to a goal in each half from Jordan Darr and Luke Power respectively.

The Chorley side have become a bit of a bogey team for REMY, who have lost to Ryan Donnellan’s side home and away for three consecutive seasons.

Results in brief

Prestwich Heys and Barnoldswick Town shared the spoils at Adie Moran Park; Connor McAuley put Barlick ahead on 53 minutes, but James Badrock equalised ten minutes later for the hosts.

Glossop North End remain unbreached after a 0-0 home draw with FC Isle of Man at Surrey Street. Visiting manager Lee Dixon was sent off following a disagreement with the match officials.

The game between Droylsden & South Liverpool was abandoned after 65 minutes due to floodlight failure, with the score at 1-1. This means Droylsden’s next home match, against FC Isle of Man next week, will have to be played behind closed doors to comply with their three match stadium ban, one of which has been suspended for a year.

Finally, the game between Nelson and Longridge Town was postponed due to floodlight issues at Little Wembley
