Two goals in added time, three points for Crewe
Crewe picked up their first victory as a North West Counties First Division South outfit with a 3-2 midweek win over Barnton.
It was a game that rewarded patience, with all five goals coming in the second half.
Josh Maris opened the scoring on 54 minutes, and with it scored Crewe’s first goal in the competition. Toby Humphries replied for the hosts on 77 minutes, before Maris once again edged his side ahead with six minutes to play.

A minute into added time, and it looked like Sean Cooke had sealed the deal for the visitors – only for Tom Stanton to score at the other end to set up a potentially nervy finish for the visitors, but they secured their first points at Step 6.
At this very early stage of the season, Barnton are one of only two clubs yet to score a point alongside Market Drayton Town.
First point for Widnes
Widnes Town have a point on the board after fighting back from 2-0 down in a 2-2 draw at Cheadle Heath Nomads.
Nomads were well in control at half time, with Chigozie Ewelike scoring his second in as many games so far this season on 23 minutes. Dan Lewis doubled the home side’s advantage five minutes before the break.
Xenon Bahula pulled one back for the visitors just before the hour, and Eoin Hogan restored parity in the 73rd minute, with a goal that proved to be a point earner.
Both Nomads games have ended in 2-2 draws so far this season.
Heavy defeat for New Mills
Just days after starting their season with an emphatic 6-0 win, New Mills fell to a 5-0 away loss at Stafford Town.
The home side were 3-0 up within 20 minutes, with Daniel Jones, Sam Lynch and Patrik Mazurkiewicz all on target.
Eshan Greer and Daniel Clarkson added goals in the second half to make it two wins from two for their side.

First defeat for Sandbach
Sandbach United opened and closed the scoring, but were beaten 3-2 at Foley Meir.
Kieran O’Connelll opened the scoring after eight minutes for Declan Swan’s side, but they went into the break 2-1 down after goals from Jacob Lovatt and Archie Ellams swung the game in the Staffordshire side’s favour.
Lucas Baker added a third with 20 minutes to play, before Saul Shotton’s added time goal gave the visitors hope of a comeback.
Finally, Alsager Town were beaten 2-0 by Brereton Social at Wood Park. First half goals from Sam Mellor and Max Marshall ensured the three points returned to Shropshire.
