Longridge Town go goal crazy
Longridge Town racked up the biggest FA Cup win in their history by thumping Pilkington 8-1 in an extra preliminary round replay on Tuesday night.
Liam Atkinson was the star man – grabbing four of the eight goals – including the opener on 9 minutes. Substitute Louie Wignall weighed in two within five minutes, with Jack Anderton and Jordan Dainty also getting their names on the scoresheet.
Ryan Beigan netted for the visitors with the score at 2-0, but five second half goals went unanswered. Saturday’s first game finished 2-2 – with both sides netting in added time to take it to a replay.

It’s the second consecutive year the Lancashire side have made the preliminary round, where they will now take on Step 4 Emley at home.

FC St Helens win through
Joining them in the next round are FC St Helens, who beat Glossop North End 3-1 to record their best run in their short FA Cup history.
The game remained goalless until the second half, with Josh Briggs opening the scoring for Mike Smith’s side on 56 minutes – and he doubled the lead on 70 minutes.
Ex=Chadderton man Ethan Sutcliffe gave Glossop hope when he pulled one back on 74 minutes, but those hopes were extinguished when Joe Barker converted a penalty three minutes from time. The Stripes will face Atherton LR in the next round.
Lower Breck and Northwich Vics bow out
A goal in each half for Campion saw them victorious over Northwich Victoria on Sunday. Paddy Sykes and Akram Lasalire sent the Yorkshire side through as the Vics exited the competition at this stage for the first time.
Lower Breck are also out after losing 3-1 at Hallam. Two goals from Brodie Litchfield and one from Benni Ndlovu gave the Sheffield side a commanding half time lead.
Alex Cherera pulled one back, but it proved to be just a consolation. It’s the second successive year the Liverpool have gone out at this stage – and to the same opposition.
FA Cup extra preliminary round prize money
Winners in the FA Cup extra preliminary round earn £1,125 in prize money, with losing teams collecting £375 for their appearance.
Replays will take place this midweek ahead of the preliminary round taking place on the weekend of August 16. The remaining Step 4 clubs exempt from the extra preliminary round – including Stalybridge Celtic, Congleton Town and Nantwich Town – join at this stage.
