Mintcakes take first points
A Josh Winder hat-trick earned Kendal Town a 4-1 victory over Marske United in the Northern League Division One.
Matt Flynn’s side registered their first points of the season at Mount Pleasant to make a long trip home that little bit sweeter.
Winder opened the scoring on 13 minutes, and doubled his team’s advantage shortly after the half time break. Bailey Kenny added a third on the hour mark, with the home side’s hopes raised slightly by Tyler Crosby’s consolation goal with a quarter hour left to play.

It wasn’t to be for the home side and Winder duly secured the matchball with three minutes left on the clock.
Victory leapfrogs Kendal above the other two Cumbrian sides in the division’s fledgling league table, with both Carlisle City and Penrith playing out 2-2 draws.
Carlisle City steal a point in added time
Carlisle will be the happier of the two to take a point, with Dan Kirkup’s side having to come from behind twice against Northallerton Town to snatch a draw in stoppage time.
Joe Kitching and substitute Alistair Banks twice put the Yorkshire side ahead, but Kelvin James was on hand to equalise twice – including four minutes into added time at the end of the match.
Two games and two points on the board represent a promising start for The Sky Blues.

Penrith have to settle for a point
Penrith will be frustrated to only have two points on the board after again sqaundering a two-goal advantage in a 2-2 home draw with Birtley Town.
Luke Hunter’s quickfire first half brace put Penrith in prime position to wrap up a first win of the campaign at Frenchfield Park, but the visitors battled back in the second half.
Goals from Scott Heslop and James Proctor pulled Birtley level with 15 minutes on the clock, but there were to be no further goals.
