A sense of deja vu for Stockport Town

The North West Counties Premier Division season may only be two games old, but Stockport Town won’t care after beating Abbey Hey 3-0 to top the fledgling table.

The Lions put on a carbon copy of their opening day win – with summer signing George Kattah netting in each half and Josh Fowles again adding the third in added time. Two away wins and six unanswered goals leaves them top on goal difference.

Town were a goal to the good when the home side’s Rhys Clooney was sent off for a second booking on 54 minutes.

Padiham start early to down Heys

Padiham had the game won within the first 20 minutes while beating Prestwich Heys 2-0 at Adie Moran Park.

Lee Pugh opened the scoring after nine minutes – and Joel Brownhill made it two goals in as many appearances nine minutes later.

The Storks have yet to concede a goal while Heys have one point on the board.

Pilks double up at Silver Street

Pilkington backed up their opening day success with a 2-1 win at Irlam.

Liam Bott’s penalty opened the scoring for the visitors on 25 minutes – another player to score in both games so far. Jack Edwards’ side doubled their advantage before the break through Joe Davies in added time.

Declan Daniels opened his account for the season by converting a penalty five minutes from time, but Pilkington rode out the final few minutes to continue their promising start.

Rams come from behind to win

Ramsbottom United came from behind to beat a Cheadle Town side who played the majority of the match with ten men.

Ben Lowe had put the home side ahead after seven minutes, but George Lewis’ red card on the quarter hour left Jake Davies’ side with an uphill battle to maintain their lead.

The Rams still trailed at the break, but goals from Harvey Hayhurt and Matt Dudley completed the turnaround with 15 minutes left to play – and kept them in the 100% club.

Charnock Richard race to fifth gear

Charnock Richard bounced back from an opening day defeat in resounding fashion by thrashing Barnoldswick Town 5-0 in their own back yard.

Luke Power’s 22nd minute goal broke the deadlock, but it was after the break The Villagers ran riot – adding four goals in a 40 minute period.

Fenton Davies was on target twice, and both Nathan Nickeas and Marcus Haydock were able to chip in with one apiece. Barlick are yet to score.

First win for Wythenshawe

Wythenshawe are off and running after beating Chadderton 3-1 in front of 405, the highest attendance of the night.

Fraser Goodwin and Bryan Ly gave the home side an early advantage with goals in the first half hour, but Lewis Byrne’s penalty on the verge of half time offered Chadderton hope.

A brief floodlight failure delay halted the game before substitute Kamoy McNair wrapped it up for James Kinsey’s side a minute from time.

West best Hillmen

West Didsbury & Chorlton are another side off the mark after beating Glossop North End 2-1 at Surrey Street.

Josh Lowe’s early red card (14) didn’t stop North End leading at the break – with Lewis Reilly on target ten minutes before the half-time team talk.

Paul Marshall’s visiting side were able to level through Harvey Roberts on 59 minutes, and Chris Rowney won it 20 minutes later.

South Liverpool earn away win

South Liverpool were 3-1 winners at the expense of Atherton LR.

Kristian Knowles put South ahead on 29 minutes before Tom Romano equalised just before the break – but he would again end up on the losing side despite two goals in as many games.

Lee Hughes restored the visiting advantage from the penalty spot on 54 minutes, and Joshua Osifo settled it 10 minutes later. Hughes would later be sent off in added time, but it did not affect the scoreline.
